About Life Policy Desk

Who runs this site, what it does and does not do, and how it is paid for

Life Policy Desk is a trade name of Aliança Marketing LLC, a Georgia limited liability company. That is the entity behind every page here, and it is the name that appears at the bottom of each one.

The company does two things. It writes and publishes plain-English guides about life insurance policies people already own, and it connects callers with licensed independent insurance agents. That is the whole of the business. The guides exist because the paperwork that comes with a life insurance policy is written for the insurance company's benefit rather than the policyholder's, and because most of the questions people have are service questions with ordinary answers that nobody has bothered to write down clearly.

There is a longer list of things the company does not do. Life Policy Desk does not sell insurance. It does not quote insurance. It does not compare policies for you, does not advise on coverage, and holds no insurance license of any kind. It cannot look up your policy, alter a beneficiary, take a payment or reinstate a lapsed contract, because it has no relationship with the company that issued your policy and no access to your file. Those things belong either to your insurance company or to a licensed agent, and this site is neither.

Life Policy Desk is not an insurance company and not an insurance agency. We write and publish the guides. A licensed independent insurance agent is the one who can read your policy, tell you what its provisions actually say and advise you on what to do, and that is who answers when you call. The agent is not acting for us when they advise you. Independent means the agent holds appointments with several insurance companies rather than working for one, and is not our employee.

How the site is paid for

Nothing here is free by accident, so here is the arrangement in plain terms. Life Policy Desk is paid by the independent insurance agents it connects callers with. The agent pays for the connection. You pay nothing, at any point, for the guides or for the call, and no bill follows afterwards. There is no membership, no subscription and no fee of any kind charged to a caller.

That arrangement has an obvious implication and it is fair to state it rather than leave it to be guessed. The agents who answer are licensed to sell insurance and earn commission when someone chooses to buy, and they take these calls because some of them lead to business. What that does not mean is that anything has to be bought. You can ask your questions, get an answer and end the call, and that happens often. If anyone ever asks you to pay Life Policy Desk to help with a policy, it is not us.

Why the distinction matters

The separation between publishing and advising runs through every page on this site, and it is not a piece of legal decoration.

Advising someone on their own life insurance requires a state license, and rightly so. A recommendation to keep, change, replace or surrender a policy depends on the contract in front of you, on the person's age and health, on who depends on them, and on money. Getting it wrong is expensive and sometimes cannot be undone. Aliança Marketing LLC holds no such license, which is exactly why nothing on this site tells you what to do with your policy. The guides explain how things generally work and what questions to put to somebody who can see your contract.

The distinction also protects you in a way worth understanding. Because the company that publishes these pages sells nothing, it has no product to steer you towards. And because the agent who answers is independent rather than employed by one insurance company, that agent has no stake in keeping you in the policy you hold and no stake in moving you out of one. Leaving a policy exactly as it is counts as a proper outcome of one of these calls, and it is a common one.

Questions people ask

Who actually wrote these guides?

They are written and published by Life Policy Desk, the trade name of Aliança Marketing LLC. They are general explanations of how policies and insurance company procedures usually work, and they are deliberately not advice about your policy. No insurance company sponsored, reviewed or approved them.

Are you licensed to sell insurance?

No. The company holds no insurance license and does not want one, because selling is not what it does. The agent who answers the phone is licensed in the state where they do business. Ask the agent for a name and license number on the call, and any state insurance department will confirm a license for you.

What do you do with what I tell you on the call?

Your details go to the licensed independent agent who is helping you, so the agent can continue the conversation. This site does not ask you for a Social Security number or a policy number, and you should not be asked to type either into a web page anywhere. If you would rather not give a phone number at all, read the guides and call your insurance company directly using the number on your statement.

Why is the company name different from the site name?

Life Policy Desk is simply the public name of the site, registered as a trade name by Aliança Marketing LLC. One is the brand, the other is the legal entity that stands behind it. Both names appear on every page so there is no confusion about who you are dealing with.
